Joan of Arcadia
Bake
Sale: A Mixed Media Collage by Melymbrosia
Iris is a much-maligned character in JoA, and Mely gives her wonderful layers
here, making her sympathetic and understandable. This story also has an unusual,
clever structure, which feels not at all gimmicky, but utterly organic as an
expression of Iris the person and the artist.
All
Hallow's Eve by Gale Dumont
Aw! Gale wrote a Luke/Grace smut! And it's adorable and sharp and non-schmoopy
(OK, maybe just a little bit, but in a good way!) and perfectly in character.
I love them so much.
Term
Limits by Gale Dumont
Oh! A Luke/Grace fic! An utterly *adorable*, in-character Luke/Grace fic! Sigh.
I love them so much.
Benediction

This story is set between seasons 1 and 2, with a quiet, introspective second-person
Joan voice well-suited to the contemplation of the questions raised in the S1
finale.
Goodnight
Moon by Yahtzee
Never seen an episode of "Joan of Arcadia"? Thought "The Day
After Tomorrow" blew chunks? Do not let those things stop you from experiencing
one of the most moving pieces of fanfic I've had the pleasure to read. About
family, love, holding on and letting go, this story is simultaneously heartbreaking
and uplifting, with the kind of cathartic power rarely encountered even in published
fiction. I cannot recommend this highly enough.
A New Form of God, Response
1 and Response
2 by Yahtzee
A couple of drabbles in response to a challenge
in the Arcadia100 community that are powerful despite (or maybe because of)
their brevity.

Grace is one of my favorite characters on
the show, and Anna captures her prickliness, confusion, and vulnerability beautifully
here. Lovely, sad, and believable.
Leda,
Mary, and the Rest by stellamaru
Damn, this story is hard to describe. It
appears deceptively simple at first, but with each reading, it takes on all
kinds of simmery multi-colored subtexts. Grace/God, sort of, but not really.
Read it and see.
