Sports Night
Rubato
by Nestra
Nestra gives us Casey and Danny with perfect, vintage SN dialog. Danny's got
a new obsession, Casey is long-suffering, and there's hilarity segueing to heartache,
then to scorching sex. What more can you ask?
The
Olympic Spirit by Freedomfry
Dan and Casey watch gymnastics in Athens and have a little friendly bet. This
is a non-pairing piece that really hits the Sorkin-funny on the head and points
out that gymnastics is fun and frivolous and Dan in boxer shorts is priceless.
Respice
Finem by Scrunchy
Twelve possible endings for the show, alternately
hilarious and heartbreaking. I can't recommend this work enough.
Somebody
Who Outdrew You by circusgirl
So good. So painful. So... in character.
Dana believes it should work, but somehow, there’s always something not quite
right, but it’s really hard to let Casey go after wanting him for so long. Beautiful
and real.
Unreal
City by Julian Lee
A lovely little femslash gemme. And there's
a mysteral and surrealness to it that makes it something different.
Shoot
the Lights Out by Anna S.
Oh poor, neurotic and mixed up Dana! Anna
convinces us of everything we already knew but were afraid to admit - Dana/
Casey was never going to work and that's just how it is.

Rec: Great Casey/Dan friendship
(tinged with a wee bit more (g)) and loved the back-forth dialogue. Characterizations
were great and how can you not love a fic with Casey hiding from a frazzled

I cried, "There should be more Sam Donovan
fic! The world would be a better, happier place with more Sam fic!", and shrift
came up with this. I love shrift.
To
Casey On His Thirty-Fifth Birthday by Mosca
Mosca nails Dan's voice as he wrestles
with telling Casey how he feels about him.
Five
Things That Never Happened (to Dan Rydell) by Shrift
Exactly what the title says - five
things that never happened to Dan Rydell, but could have. Heartbreaking,
wonderful, pitch-perfect.
Like
a Practical Joke (If You Take Out the Punchline) by Oro
Jeremy slash seems to be thin on
the ground - but if it did happen I can imagine Jeremy in this sort of
frame of mind. And it's just a little sexy too.
In
My Dreams I Slashed Your Tyres by CGB
CGB gives us an insightful look
into the tangled relationships between the three main characters, and Dana,
especially, is given unexpected depth.
Flirtational
Theory by Shrift
Oh so likeable! You can't help grinning
at the end. Labelled "fluff" by Shrift herself, this story is a
reminder that simple things have
a quality all of their own. The characterisation is perfectly done and
the dialogue would make Sorkin proud. A BIG must read for this month.
Go
Thy Way, Daniel by Marguerite
Dan disintegrates. Casey watches,
and tries to do something about it. Subtle, beautiful, painful and true.
Possibility
of a World by k
From the sharp original characters
to the twist on the normal Danny/Casey relationship, everything's achingly,
beautifully real in this story. It also manages to leave you guessing
how things will end until the very last bittersweet second.
Nutrition
and Other Needs by Pearl-o
Danny goes to LA without Casey.
Erica gets everything right here - Dan and Dana's work-centric friendship
without Casey to bind them, Jeremy's bridal nerves, and most importantly,
Dan and Casey's relationship, with everything that goes unspoken, and regrets
that linger.

Freaking fab. Great dialogue, great
Dan, great all round Sports Night feel. Some lovely insights into the weird
world of Dan's mind and that whole psyche thing and it just comes together
as this lovely, deep yet light story. Enjoyed much. So much.
